1 The current situation of foreign roller cone drilling rigs and the technical characteristics of major manufacturers
The main foreign countries that can mass-manufacture roller cone drilling rigs are the United States, Russia and Japan. The roller cone drilling rigs designed and manufactured in the United States have a high technical level and good performance, and are sold almost all over the world.
The three major companies that produce roller drilling rigs in the world are all in the United States: Bucyrus (BE, acquired by Caterpillar), Ingersoll Rand (IR, acquired by Atlas Copco) and P&H Company (acquired by Joy International). Bucyrus and Ingersoll Rand are companies with a long history of producing roller cone drilling rigs, while P&H entered the roller cone drilling rig market in 1991 after acquiring the Gardner-Denver Company's roller drilling rig production line.
1) Bucyrus Corporation is one of the world's largest, oldest and technologically advanced manufacturers of roller cone drilling rigs. 49-R, 65-R and 67-R and their derivative series are the company's main products, representing the world's advanced level at the beginning of the 21st century. Among them, the features of the 49-R type roller drilling rig include: the electric chainless rack and pinion pressurizing and lifting system can maintain uniform shaft pressure, increase drilling speed, and extend the life of the drill bit; the chainless reversible crawler traveling system can quickly make the drilling rig positioning and automatic leveling within 4 seconds; the high-efficiency screw air compressor can increase the amount of compressed air, quickly remove rock slag at the bottom of the hole, and speed up drilling; all drilling rig functions are managed by PLC to improve production efficiency and safety; programmable drilling rig The control system can realize automatic drilling and improve drilling efficiency.
In order to meet the needs of drilling in taconite, the company developed a larger 59-R drill rig based on the 49-R drill rig, with an axial pressure of 585-630 kN and a slag discharge wind speed of 35.56 m/s. The hole diameter reaches 406~445 mm. The crawler frame, leveling jack, hydraulic system, drilling frame, pressurized lifting mechanism, rotary trolley, main air compressor and programmable control of the 59-R drilling rig are all improved and perfected compared to the 49-R drilling rig. Its drilling speed in iron ore reaches 28.3 m/h.
2) Ingersoll Rand mainly produces fully hydraulic cone and down-the-hole dual-purpose drilling rigs in terms of mining cone drilling rigs. Its main products include DM-25, DM-45E, DM-50E, DM-H and DM-M models. Its characteristic is that all movements are driven by hydraulic pressure, and the power of the whole machine can be selected from diesel engine or electricity. In the early 1980s, Ingersoll Rand launched the DM-H drilling rig with a shaft pressure of 500 kN and a hole diameter of 311 to 381 mm. It adopts a hydraulic excavator-type crawler running device, and two hydraulic motors drive two crawler tracks respectively, which improves maneuverability and reduces the shifting operation time from hours to minutes. From the mid-1980s to the 1990s, DM-M, DM-M2 and DM-M3 drilling rigs with continuously improving performance were launched. The Pit Viper Series351 roller cone drilling rig launched by Ingersoll Rand has a large axial pressure. The axial pressure of this model is 570 kN, the exhaust volume is 6 500m2/min, and the exhaust pressure is 0.76 MPa.
In addition, the Drilling Rig Monitoring System (IRDMS) developed by Ingersoll Rand enables operators to monitor drilling parameters such as drilling speed, hole depth, total footage and number of drilled holes from the console. At the same time, it can also diagnose the temperature, pressure, filter status of key parts and other faults related to mechanical and system functions, and can transmit the data to a computer outside the drilling rig, or network with the mine wireless system.
